THE OUT-CAKES

Welcome to a little blog dedicated to sharing some of the things that go on behind the scenes in my kitchen!

Hi, firstly let me reassure you that I am a 'regular punter' - I have a full time job that is nothing whatsoever to do with baking and I have officially zero baking/ pastry credentials. To be honest I'm making myself far more interesting by staying the shadowy figure in my little logo - it lends an air of mystery or so I think anyway.

So what is this all about then? I've always really enjoyed being creative, I love being amongst people and I love cooking and making cakes for people. I am, in short, a total feeder, and as my little gallery down below shows, I'll have a go at making pretty much anything In-cake!

But oh how baking can make you feel like a right wally. I know this to be true having been lulled into a false sense of confidence by a couple of good bakes in a row, only to be reduced to a snivelling wreck by sponges welded to the tin with no rhyme nor reason, or worse, a significantly soggy bottom issue (the sponges, not me). 

So whilst I'm happy every now and again to accept a challenge and attempt something new and post 'the In-Cakes' on shiny show reel social media, I thought it only fair to share some 'behind the scenes' stories of the good and the bad - The Out-Cakes! The utter devastation in the kitchen, the major catastrophes and the moments where ambition and ability just didn't gel - I'll give you my best tips too though!
